National Language Month: “UTalk’s Pamilipit Dilang Patimpalak”

UTalkers had fun having their tongues twisted (figuratively, of course) during the “Pamilipit Dilang Patimpalak” (Tongue Twister Contest) which was done in celebration of “Buwan ng Wika” (National Language Month) held last August 17, 2018.

Representatives from each team were given three chances at acing the tongue twister challenge. Once they successfully repeated the tongue twisters 5 times in succession without stuttering, each contestant got to win the corresponding prize allotted for the number they picked. While most succeeded, there were a few who had some challenges with the task but were all a good sport and had a good laugh about the experience.

Tokens and cash were among the prizes that went up for grabs. But more than the prizes, it was the fun that came with the activity that served as the highlight. Also, the event became an opportunity for most participants to reacquaint themselves with the versatility of the Filipino language. Indeed, being multi-lingual is an advantage most Filipinos share. We take pride in our National Language, at the same time, flexible enough to excel in other languages, among which is English.

“To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world”- Chinese proverb.
