Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Baguio Chapter awarded a “Certificate of Appreciation” to UTalk during the “Blood Donor Recognition Day” program held at SM Baguio Atrium on August 23, 2018. The said award was exclusively given to partner organizations to show Red Cross’ grateful recognition of meritorious service rendered in the promotion of the Blood Services. UTalk was specifically recognized for being able to donate a cumulative 95 units of blood for the past 2 years among all other organization-partners within the same period. The company came second after DZWT (Mountain Province Broadcasting Corp) that donated 103 units of blood.

The ceremony for blood donors and partners was to serve as the highlight of the month’s Red Cross campaign. The said August theme is "Be there for someone else" with the secondary message “Give blood. Share life". Red Cross hopes to put focus on the importance of giving blood regularly, and by doing so, the blood supply will be enough for those in need.

The gathering of donors was graced by the presence of no less than Baguio City Mayor, Hon. Mauricio Domogan who gave a short but inspiring speech to start the program. Among the Red Cross officers who also witnessed the event were PRC-Baguio City Chapter Administrator, Mr. Erdolfo Balajadia and several PRC Board of Directors.

Stephanie Arellano, Operations Support Manager, accepted the award on behalf of UTalk.  This recognition is dedicated to all low-key and silent heroes of UTalk. Heroes who have so willingly donated their blood for the past 2 years with the hopes of extending their help as well as sharing a part of their lives to those in dire need of blood. According to PRC, in a day, Red Cross releases a minimum of 20-30 units of blood to meet the needs of various patients such as those suffering from cancer and leukaemia. This is why, taking part in blood donation drives is an initiative that is highly appreciated by the organization as this literally helps save lives.

Indeed, it’s with great pride that blood donor UTalkers are part of this Baguio community of selfless Filipinos.
