UTalk strongly supports the efforts of the local government to provide jobs to the members of the Baguio Community. As such, UTalk has actively participated in several Job Fairs facilitated by the city government and DOLE.
The first Job Fair was held last May 1, 2018 in celebration of the National Labor Day. The activity was held at the gym of Baguio City National High School (BCNHS). A lot of aspiring ESL teachers and PHP developers approached the UTalk booth to undergo initial screening. While some of them are still in need of additional practice, there were quite a number who were endorsed to visit the UTalk Abanao site to continue with the next phase of the application process. Some applicants came from as far as Tarlac, La Union, and Manila who wished to try being employed here in Baguio City. Those who didn’t quite meet the requirements just yet were given some coaching points and advised to try applying again after a few months.
Next of the Job Fairs was held at Porta Vaga Mall on June 12, 2018, amidst the strong wind and rain that marked the start of the rainy season. Despite the weather condition, job seekers still flocked the Job Fair hoping to get hired by participating employers. One of the more popular employers that day was UTalk. Eager applicants from all walks of life, former OFWs looking for job opportunities in the Philippines, and newly graduated aspirants lined up at the UTalk booth wanting to take a shot at a possible employment. This event was another proof that for applicants wanting to land a job, the saying “if there’s a will, there’s a way” applies.
We wish all the applicants success in their applications and we’re looking forward to participating in more Job Fairs!
